The trim comes in different widths.  From what you described, you need to install the wider width.  No sealant is required.

Back in July of 2013, Omaha, NE experienced a significant hail storm. The 2012 R177 RPod was unscathed (no dents) with the exception of the black trim on both sides of the Pod. Only one side of the trim needed it replacing though. This black trim covers the screws on both sides of the Pod.

The dealer suggested buying a package of black trim and installing ourselves. Our son replaced it on the damaged side of the Pod.

While traveling last weekend, we noticed we were dragging the trim behind the trailer and had to remove it.

What is the best way to install this trim, so it  stays? Ouch

Thanks
