mcarter, your English Bulldog sounds just like our Henry!
"He doesn't bark, he doesn't chew, he doesn't dig, he doesn't bite, he sleeps." Yep! That's Henry. He will frighten you with the occasional hairball though. Henry is our camping cat. ![]() fred

I have approached my neighbors when they return with something like "I'm sure your doggie will be glad you're home. I think you'd like to know that he barked ALL the while you were gone. If you're not here, how could you know unless someone tells you?" Friends have had success with keeping their dog inside, shades drawn, air on and radio on.

Try sleeping at a dog show. I was parked next to a big motor home this weekend with a gazillion little, yappy Tibetan Terriers. Obnoxious!
However,I know I’m not always perfect although my dogs are usually quiet. I would only complain if they were putting dogs out all night to bark. Most people at dog shows don’t get going until 6:00or later and tend to keep a pretty normal schedule so it’s ok.

Some friends of ours took their dog camping, and left it in the camper while they were gone for the day. When they returned, they were asked to leave and not come back!

Well, I guess there is a lesson in that. Pets like children need some control. I've camped next to noisy dogs but found generally I can ignore it, think its a shame folks have no consideration of their neighbors. My dog I control, if I couldn't he wouldn't be there.

I have a bark collar I use in hotels if I need to leave for more than an hour. My Doberman has gotten better since we travel a lot but I still put the collar on when I’m gone. I think it was about $25,highly recommended for anybody concerned about leaving their dog in the camper.
Most people at dog shows put their dogs out with exercise pens during the daytime but they should be supervised when out as I’ve seen the tiniest dogs climb out. I may get one for my Doberman but I wouldn’t trust my papillon in one except if it has a cover. She hates being confined and really hates being left without me,since she also functions as my service dog.

We have to wiener dogs and they are notorious for being alert to everything going on. When outside they are tethered and one of us is always with them. They will stop barking if a stranger walks over to them and pet them. When we leave them in the camper we cage them. Then put a light blanket over the cage. I do not know what it is about the blanket but they do not bark.
We are always aware of the folks around us. |

On our recent RPod trip one of the RVs had 5 small dogs (someone else counted 7, but there were at least 5). They were inside most of the day and all of them watched out the front window and barked in unison every time a vehicle, people or other dogs walked by. Which was pretty much all day long. It seemed there was someone in the RV with them at least some of the time. It was also obvious the people were there for work reasons, based on one of them leaving every morning and returning hours later. To my knowledge no one complained about them (we didn't). Probably because it was obvious they were there for job reasons (not working in the campground, but likely in the nearby town). Their RV muffled the barking enough that it wasn't awful, even though we were outside most of the time. If they had been 5 or 7 German shepherds barking instead someone might have spoken to the rangers
