Given the age of the refrigerator, replacement might be the better option at this point. I hope that they would not charge you for the part they ordered that they said would fix it and which did not.

More problems!!!!!!! The plot thickens , the rv place that is working on our refer called, or I called them after 2 days after they got the part well still won't work. Will be going. To discuss the options tomorrow. Not going to pay to have parts just thrown at it till it works

Since I got confirmation on what the problem was I have tried to locate the part myself and after numerous calls and not in stock and no idea when they could get it, I decided to leave it up to the pros. Yes 290.00 is spendy . I did find one on eBay in England

Dyer has it, but it isn't cheap! Dometic Refrigerator Burner Controller. At least it is on their web site. You would have to check to see if it is in stock though.

Is this the part? Dometic Refrigerator Gas Valve Solenoid If it is, you could check to see if it is in stock. If so, that might get it to you much faster than waiting for one to be made and shipped from Germany.

Well here it is the 19 of June and the burner control valve was ordered on th 3 rd of June , still no part, bummer, I guess when purchasing  a trailer you need to research where the major components are made. This 8501 was made in Germany. Don't know what the alternative is though.
