Just joined the group and have already learned a lot from reading the posts. We decided to sell our Trailmanor 2720 and we've had our 179 for a week. Love it so far. I'm wondering if others with a slide out can tell me if the frame around the slide out on the inside of the camper goes back flush to the wall. We have the wood trim around it. I've noticed in photos that it used to be a puffy fabric type of trim.
When opening the slide, it stops about 3/4 to 1 inch from the wall. Theres a rubber gasket all along the top that seems to stop it from fitting flush. I haven't called the dealer yet. Was just going to stop in next week when going by, but I'd thought I'd ask here. I can post a photo if my explanation is not clear enough. Thanks. |

Welcome!
The gasket could definitely be the cause. We haven't worried too much about it in our 179 and haven't had any leaks, although I don't think ours sits that far out. Just curious: What didn't you like about the Trail Manor that made you switch over to an R-Pod? If they weren't having production issues, I was originally considering going that route. |

Thanks!
The Trailmanor was our 3rd camper. We bought a 17ft Burro in 1999. The reason we got the 2720 TM (in 2008) was mostly because I was doing craft fairs around the state and I wanted a larger camper that I could sit in at night and sew or make other stuff and my husband could have his easy chair. We liked it, never had a problem with it. It was fun. But now being retired, I just want to have a camper we can jump in, take off, with very little setup/takedown. We actually drove from Maine to Arizona and back last year and we left the TM home and took the old Burro. So, I guess the r-pod is really an upgrade from the Burro. Lots more options and space. |

I have a 4 week old 179 and my slide sets the same as you describe. When we were looking at Rpods every model I was inside of, set the same way. |

I think that is by design. The rubber gasket compresses against the wall, sealing it (hopefully) from leaks. If you look at the EDPM material used on the top of the slide-out (no fiberglass there), you might notice it is not tight into the corner of the frame and the face. I think this might be to add some curvature that would also tend to divert any moisture outward instead of letting flow inward.
My 179 (2016, pre-stainless steel sink an flip foot) has the padded naugahide (or some other type of vinyl fabric) facing on the slide-out. I'm not sure I would like the wood better. If I hit my head on it, I'd rather it be the padded version. |

Thanks everyone. I won't worry about it for now. Ted thinks it supposed to be like that. We've had the slide out for 3 days of rain and it's fine. You really only notice the gap when you sit on the bed. Its an odd angle. No one posts photos from over there toward the kitchen.

I'll try to take a picture of ours from that angle and post it when I get a chance.
