possible sliding dining table mod?

Have a look at the way the dining room table works/slides in this video (at about the 1 minute mark) . I wonder if the same hardware could be used on the table in an R-pod. It would have the advantage of getting rid of the flimsy table hardware and you wouldn't have to drop the table down every time you go somewhere.

     I just finished today on our modification to our  171 table. We kept the original table top, which is heavy but we liked the matching formica to the counter top. We have it so that it attaches to the front wall with one single leg with a locking hinge. We can leave it up when traveling and lower it for the bed option. The single leg allows more room for your feet and the hinge locks in place in the up or down position. The table doesen"t slide though, but thats a good option. We had a tent trailer, so I've had my fill of cranking, pulling out bunks, making beds and setting up the table each time I  stopped at a campground.  We chose the 171 because we didn't want to do any of these things anymore.  It wasn't until the dealer's walk-thru that I learned that the table had to be taken down every time you hitched-up.

I do like that the table is self-standing, so that I can take it outside when needed.  Its also handy to be able to move it around when pulling things out from under the dinette seats (which I seem to do far too often).

I ended up just using two bungee cords: one on the front legs, the other on the back with a bungee hook coming off of each of the four legs.  I drilled four vertical holes on the bed rails, two at the front and two at the back, and cut the bungee cords to length.  The bungee hooks fit easily into the holes and hold the table steady in transit.  When we stop for lunch, I just unhook the front bungees and there's comfortable seating for two; the back bungees are out of the way, so I just leave them in place.

I saw on here somewhere that a podperson had cut three 1 x 12 boards and used them under the cushion to make support for the bed.  During the day they could be stored in the box or somewhere.  I think the table fits in the storage under the bunk on the 172.  Saw it in someones pics.  We plan on leaving the table outside during our stay at the campground.

I've asked Santa for something like this for Christmas- a marine type pedestal table base.
