hi pod people,

Joe and Karen here... And of course Bessie the bassett. We have had several trailers, our ladt was a Casita.  Absolutely had to have a dry bath and we needed more room than the tiny Casita egg had to offer.  Went to Albany Indiana today and spent hours in an Rpod 180. Really love it, going to call and do the deal tomorrow.  The only thing I do not like is the bed is tight on three sides and will be difficult to make, but thats pretty minor.  Will add to post as we get ready to pick up.  Best of luck to all.

We have had our 180 for three weeks now.  Just completed a seven day 1,500 mile trip from Georgetown TX to Memphis then to Bull Shoals Lake and back.  The Pod was great, we had temp down to 33 degrees in the Ozarks.

We are very happy with it, good luck on your purchase

Dave,
I take it the Explorer did fine ?  Pulled up and down the mountains confidently ?  Factory mattress do you okay ?  Congratulations on your purchase.

Wish you the best on your purchase, a lot of happy 180 owners around on this forum.  Our only problem when we purchased ours in 2011 was the mattress.  We threw it away after our 3rd trip and replaced it with a Euro Mattress from camping world.  Wow, what a difference!  Still have that same mattress and it is still very firm and  c o m f o r t a b l e.

The Explorer did fine, we got 10-11 miles per gallon.  I am thinking about getting a wind deflector to improve mileage.   We bought a memory foam topper for the mattress, it is very comfortable. My wife does the driving so we put a weight distribution and anti-sway hitch on. It pulled very well no sway at all, even in high cross wind. We also had a rear wireless camera installed so it is easy to see when you are clear when passing.

Try making the bed on a 171 where it is walled in on 3-1/2 sides... LOL

I'm guessing it takes a few times practice, to avoid whacking your head while doing that!

That might end being my job, as Bubbles from TPB says: get over there and help, with your long alien garbage scooping arms!

The 179 is the same way. Elastic corner straps are almost a necessity.
