Hi,
I'm looking into purchasing a new R Pod after using a small 1987 tent trailer for several years. I'm towing with a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, so I don't have a very high weight limit. I'm sort of between the 177 and 180 model. The 177 is a good size and layout for me, but it has the wet bath. The 180 has a nice sized normal bathroom, but is pretty large and heavy. How is it dealing with the wet bath? I'm not a very tall person, so the size isn't terrible. But, it seems unpleasant. Thanks!

It's all a matter of opinion, but I think the wet bath is fine. It seems a little weird at first, but we got over it pretty quickly. A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth after a shower and it's functionally a dry bath. Now if you want to shower while your spouse uses the toilet, it ain't gonna work! TT

If you get rid of the stiff shower hose they include and get a flexible metal hose, the showering experience is much better. I'm somewhat large and the wet bath in our 179 doesn't bother me much, especially when I can do most of my washing sitting down.

I'm 6'1 and use one with no problem - did replace the shower hose and head and added a shutoff, put a small shelf and mirror in, and we have 3m hooks to hang our toilet kit bags from. To us, the tradeoff seemed like a good one - our last trailer had a bigger dry bath but considering how little time it gets used, we much prefer having more space in the living area.

+1 to TT, indeed the shower/bath is a one person at a time experience! We have enjoyed our 177 since purchase in January 2011. At 2400 lbs it is quite easy to tow.

Thanks for the replies. I'm used to traveling with no bathroom, so anything here is a step up!

The trade-off is between a roomy shower/bathroom and the space that requires. Considering the small amount of time we use that particular room, I'm happy with keeping it small.

Yet another voice for the wet bath being okay. We weren't so constrained on weight, but bought our 179 because of the larger kitchen. We figured we would get more use out of the larger kitchen and additional storage space than the limited time we would spend in the shower. If available, we will use alternatives such as those in campgrounds, but showering in the wet bath isn't a problem. Water supply and gray water tank capacity are much more limiting factors. Showers need to be short. Filling the sink with soapy water and using that to wash and then a quick rinse with the shower works well. My wife needs a bit more for shampooing her hair, but both of us don't use much water when showering in the R-Pod.

Hundreds of showers and "other uses" of the wet bath.. never bothered us at all.

I like my 180 with the big dry bath. The wet bath seemed too claustrophobic to both my wife and me. We don’t cook big meals and it’s just the two of us so the small dinette is fine.
