SmileSmileSmile A very good friend let  me use his new 2017 ford  F-150 (super cab, short bed, 5.0 V8) .  The truck was so much nicer than my 2006 Jeep Liberty, I could keep up with the group, maintain the speed limit and pass going uphill.  On my trip to Crater Lake and central Organ from Cascade Idaho I got 3 mpg while towing.  You just can't beat a V8

Indeed, a great towing vehicle.  I still own a 94 F-150 4x4 with the 5.0 V8 with a stick shift.  A little rough, a lot of rust, but hey, a northern Michigan truck that eats a lot of salt, kills a lot of deer and has over 311,000 miles.  Still, a very good truck.

Sailor - you got 3 MPG? I hope you mean 13. I also tow with a 5.3 Chevy and agree V8s are cool.

TongueTongueTongue My mistake, my fingers could not  keep up with my pea-sized brain.  I really wanted to say just over 13 mpg.

We just got the Super crew cab version with the 5.0 V-8, it has that new trailer assist thing in it, can't wait to try That Out!

Definitely!

Mike,
Still have the Caravan, but we are working on a plan for an Alaska trip next year, so t was time to get some more room and power. Plus it will open up some new options when fishing down on Cape Hatteras
