Topic: Yappy Dogs and Campsite etiquette Posted: 27 May 2017 at 9:24am |
Now I must first qualify by saying I love dogs. I wish I had one. They can be members of our family. Just like our kids. Why would we not take them camping with us?
Here I am sitting at beautiful Destin West RV park and for 2 straight days the camper behind us has had their dog locked up while they are gone while their little member of the family is barking his little head off continuously nonstop for 2 straight days. Really? Not fair to the dog or anyone else in this campground. There, I said it. Thanks for listening.

I agree, bad for animal and rude to neighbors. I would complain.

I talked to the manager already. He wasn't very helpful. Too bad. This is one of those times that I am glad my Ac sounds like a freight train. 😀

I have been fortunate in that campground managers have been very helpful when we have encountered this problem, and it happens more than I wish. If this is a public campground I would send a text or letter to the powers that be who are the owners/managers of the campground. At least I would feel like I am letting them know how unsympathetic the camp mgr. was to my dilemma and that they have lost any future potential income from me as well as others whom I will tell this story to.

I brought my dog camping with us memorial day weekend. It was his first time. He is a pit bull mix. He can be protective especially of "mom". He behaved extremely well, with almost no barking. I of course acted like a responsible dog owner and didnt go places, or do things that required me to leave my buddy locked up in a trailer while i went and had fun.

We take our Bostons with us and when we are not with them we put them in their kennel boxes. They are happy and safe as well as quiet. We are not gone long and it works well.

We travel with our English Bulldog. He doesn't bark, he doesn't chew, he doesn't dig, he doesn't bite, he sleeps. Only time I have to be concerned is when he is outside, if you walk by he expects to be petted. Which can be disconcerting if you are walking by and a 80 lb dog approaches you. We keep him tethered, he always has a fan base when we walk him. He's a sweetheart. When camping we will leave and go fishing, he is satisfied to sleep, not a sound.
