I just repositioned the screen door. It had a gap on one side. Took it off and drilled new holes at the hinges. They are drilled into the door itself, so you don't see them when covered by the hinges. That and a few other things, like some sloppy caulking, make me wonder about the workmanship..still like the design though. Maybe they've put so many out, the workers got in too big a hurry.

My 2017 179 definitely has some very sloppy caulking....

i found a bed frame on Amazon that was a close-enough fit which has elevated my mattress by about 9" allowing for 'under bed storage.' i am single so it's not a problem that the frame is about 6" narrower than the mattress itself.
i've also turned my table 1/4 turn and bought a simple folding chair from a big-box store, and i sit at the table looking straight out the window. Sitting on the cushions made my back hurt because i always felt like i was tilting to one side. Again, since it's just me, i can use my cushions/seating area for storage. And because one of my 3 cupboard doors above the table kept coming loose, i just took it off completely and turned that area into my 'bookshelf.' The other two house my clothes. i plan to paint the interior and get rid of the dark cupboards and drawers, as well as the wallpaper. Am also thinking about modifying my bed and making it into a twin (since it's just me) and utilizing the rest of the space for perhaps a 'desk' of sorts, and maybe more storage:) Would love to have a retractable awning installed on it too, as well as a window in the door, and a skylight in the bathroom, but we'll see. |

MysticLily, I installed a window in our door on our 175. I am listing the parts I got from Lippert Industries: Inside frame-235826, Outside frame-201477, Glass GL20-226093 (GL30 glass is lighter). I used black 1 1/2" bevel headed deck type screws to assemble. It was a couple of years ago, the cost was then $56.00. Was scary to cut a hole in a nice door, so I made a template out of cardboard first judge the correct size and location on door.

We recently installed a window in the door of our 2015 179. Wanted to let folks know it was not difficult, hardest part was working up the nerve to get started. I used plenty of blue painters tape to keep from marring the surfaces. My first surprise is how light the door is,weighs only a few pounds. The window supplier recommended using a variable speed router with a trimming bit, but that didn't work so well. Used skill saw with metal cutting blade and then a jig saw but blade wasn't long enough so finished with a saws all. Came out very well and the install was quite simple.
Purchased window and trim kit from Vintage Technologies in Union Michigan (2.5 hour drive for me). He was very helpful and offered phone assi ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tried to upload photos but haven't mastered it yet.

I met up with Patriot Dave this past week up at Petoskey State Park in northern Michigan. He had a custom canvas porch mod on his 2016 179 that looked great. I interviewed him about it and put a YouTube video together at the link below. Thanks Dave for the interview and great mod! John "PilotPodder" Marucci

We've done a few mods to our 179: adding a 12V circuit with a 400W inverter, swapping out the dinette cushions for a futon, swapping out the 19" Jensen TV for a 24" Samsung TV, and adding tilt to the TV bracket, to name a few.
According to my wife, the next mod is adding drawers to the cabinet under the stove that slide out toward the pantry. Neither of us is very limber anymore, so using that space at present is a difficult task. |

We just had a WDH installed (Fastway e2 Trunnion style hitch) on our 2011 Honda pilot for our 2015 179 pod. The clearance from the bottom of the hitch (due to having to use extended shank) is close to the ground and concerning. Can someone tell us what axle lift kit you used? Did you install yourself and how much did it raise the trailer. We are wondering if this would allow the WDH to be raised a few inches and give us more ground clearance?
Thanks
