I just couldn't do it. I had to replace the original tires on my 2017.5 pod.  After seeing lots of unhappy comments, and pictures of blown tires, i just couldn't do it. I'm going out on the maiden voyage next weekend, and it was go or get off the pot time. So this morning i went and had them throw 2 new Carlisle load range D radial trail hd tires on.  st205/75R14's. rated for 4000 pounds and 81 m.p.h..  I intend to do neither of those things, so i should be able to have peace of mind .

Peace of mind is important. I think you will be very happy with them.

I put a set of new tires on tis spring after six years and thousands of miles on the original ones.  I have a good dealer that I trust and told them to put on good new tires so I wouldn't have to worry.  He did and I don't.

After 5 years and 24,000 miles I replaced our Load Range C tires with another similar set last year.  Maybe our 177 is lighter than the others (2400 empty) so I kept on with the "C" range.  Felt bad replacing them, the tread was still like new but Furpod told me at the ERU in Traverse City to replace . . . so I did.  According to the manufacture date, they were already 1 year past being replaced.

I think you will be happy with D tires. I had a guy tell me at a fuel stop he thought my tires were low, I had the standard Cs on then. Lack of technical terms, the Cs were "squishy", very happy with D load handling capability.

My wife was more uncomfortable with the bulging sidewalls of the Cs than I was. Then I had the blowouts on a solo trip. I bought cheap replacements just to get by. Shortly after I got home, I was mentioning wanting to put Ds on it and my wife was 100% in favor. She and I both like the lack of bulge on the Ds and the Pod doesn't bounce as much.

I just took delivery of my 2018 178 and I was pleasantly surprised to see it came with the D-rated tires.

I'm really happy to see that Forest River made that change. I am happy with the Load Range D tires to which I upgraded after last summer's travels.

I am looking at some E rated on the internet, 75 lbs of pressure, 10 plys. Looking for reviews, they are Supremes. They are ST205/14s. I can get 4 for 160, free ship.

Speaking of tires... How many grams are saved when the tires are filled with air instead of nitrogen? Has anyone ever gone to the time & expense of re-filling with nitrogen?

It's not clear to me why this is even a thing.
