The accordion window shades are always popping and becoming unstrung whereupon they just hang there, ugly, flaccid and useless. It's such that I'm afraid to touch them lest they break.
I'd like to trash them. Anyone done anything with curtains or other types of blinds?

Mine work great. They pull up and down on two strings on each side. The strings have to be tight, like a stringed instrument.

One window has popped twice. This past trip, one in the rear did the same thing. Yes... they are strung from the top to the bottom and the accordion is supposed to go up and down on the strings.

This is only about the 4th trip I've taken in the pod so... the odds are about 75% that a window shade will self-destruct whenever I go anywhere. I'd prefer some sort of curtain arrangement.

When you say it "has popped," please define what that means.I have no had any issues, so I am trying to understand what is happening with yours. I just slide it up and down. I don't try to pull outward from the window while doing so.
I was doing some searching, and it is possible to re-string the blinds. There are several videos on YouTube which can show you how. If your 'Pod is less than a year old, you could see about warranty replacement (two years if you bought the extended warranty from Forest River). |

I installed cellular pull shades. Worth it.

Although they were completely functional for me...I did not like the shades either. I took down the valances by the bedroom windows and added curtains. Later I ended up putting the shades back on- after I painted them- I just felt like I needed additional privacy when getting dressed. If it would have been in the budget I would have installed the cellular roll up kind.

As someone who sews, I expected the blinds to be something I'd want to immediately replace with something I could make better. Or at least prettier I'm actually surprised though, that they are as good as they are. You definitely have to pull / push them evenly. I do that by just pushing up/pulling down with one hand in the middle. I think WhoaBabe's gussied-up versions are delightful (and very helpful blog by the way Jen!). Another approach, as a quick & easy fix, is to put black-out fabric (you can get it in white/ivory) on a tension rod that fits inside the valance. A more permanent approach would be to add rods over the blinds to add curtain fabric (as WhoaBabe's people did). I would go back to the dealer about your blinds coming apart - they definitely sound defective.
