Topic: Cargo Carrying Capacity Posted: 06 Apr 2017 at 12:35pm |
I have a question about CCC.
Is this amount the limit that you can have in your travel trailer while towing, or is it the limit you can have in your trailer while camping?
Example: One TT has a CCC of 620 lbs.
If this is the capacity during camping, our family will exceed it after our four bodies are loaded and the tanks are full.
If it's only for towing, it's doable.

If I understand correctly, it would be the additional weight that can be added to the trailer - as it travels down the road. This would include such things as: clothes, food, water in the tanks, etc. The trailer's chassis, suspension and tires are designed to carry only so much. So, yes, it would be the amount while towing. I hope this helps.

+1 David. The CCC is the amount of load you can put on the TT period. Figured by the frame, hitch, suspension (to include tire load), and axle capacities of your TT.

Pretty sure NO pod has a CCC that low. And yes, just to confirm, that is the cargo loaded while towing.

1000lb CCC.. i wish!!! Our 172 sticker # is 692 lbs CCC, I think it's one of, if not the lowest CCC models.
Also keep in mind a full load of water is ~300 lbs. While you can usually get water at the campground, you often can't dump, so have to factor the dirty water in.
Low CCC is main complaint on the 172.

I just brought home a 2015 178 and ccc is 915. If you are strapped with a low capacity haul what you can in your tow vehicle.

Just double checked the CCC number, it is over 900. Still low, but more doable.
You completely answered my question. If one has too much stuff to stay under the CCC, those items can be transferred to the tow vehicle. Thanks for replies!
Also, when the unit has a GVWR, have they already calculated tongue weight and CCC? Or do you have to add these figures to the GVWR?

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is the MAX it can weigh, Both for the rating on the trailer, and the weight on the tow vehicle. So you need to make sure you don't "move stuff from the pod to the truck.." and overload the truck.
