Calendar Event: Camping around Austin Texas Posted: 27 Dec 2016 at 2:22pm |
I think you will like McKinney Falls. Surprisingly picturesque and back-to-nature, yet close in to Austin. We had a great time there a couple of years ago.

+1 on the bat bridge. You can feel the breeze from their wings as they fly over.

Inks lake is very nice, but if you want to get a little closer to Austin Lake Georgetown could be a good choice. It has two Army Corp campgrounds. Very well maintained. If you have a Access pass the camping fees are around $11 per night.

Austin is fun. I haven't camped tnere but have been their on business and dine some fun things. The live music scene is among the best in the country. I also recommend a trip tp Johnson City to visit the LBJ ranch, and a must visit is Luchenbach as in the song.

Well, there is Mckinney Falls SP and that is pretty close to it all, but if you want to get out a ways look at Inks Lake SP; Hwy 29 runs from the park all the way and pretty much a straight shot to Georgetown. If you do stay at Inks...don't miss the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. Good Luck, Have Fun!
P. S. If you do stay at SP's do consider an annual pass as the ROI is very good.
