We have reservations beginning 10/18 at Anastasia State Park on St. Augustine Beach.  That whole swath of Atlantic Coast Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas is in the crosshairs of Matthew.

Hoping for the best, but we'll have to see what happens in the next day or two.

Postponing our vacation would be disappointing, but to have our all-time favorite State Park and campground take a debilitating hit would be even worse.  Anastasia is very close to our definition of paradise-  a jewel of incredibly valuable property set in the middle of St. Augustine Beach for the enjoyment of Florida residents and visitors.  Our fingers are crossed.

As for the coastal residents who are under a mandatory evacuation order, our thoughts and prayers are absolutely with them.  We spent all day yesterday and today getting all of our pet friendly units prepared to receive the orphans of the storm and their "best friends."  "Our Hurricane" was just about a month ago-  and we had all kinds of volunteer help in our recovery.  Now it's time to do what we can in return.

As of this morning, (10/11), Anastasia was one of three Parks still closed, the others being Gamble Rogers and Hontoon Island.  Then sometime this morning Washington Oaks Gardens was added to the closed list.

Anastasia is attempting to get the day activities areas open, maybe by tomorrow, but the camping is still closed.

We have decided to cancel our plans for next week.  Even if camping re-opens, we've seen enough storm damage for now.

Looks like Suwanee River State Park in early November instead.

Sorry for the bad information. My wife got an email from the Florida State Park system saying it was open. After having seen what happened in St Augustine I was surprised it would be OK
