Amanda and I come from a background of sailing/cruising so the pod is spacious by comparison and between the sailing and our motorcycling habit we're (painfully) familiar with the mod-bug lol.

We just bought our first RV (an R-pod 171 - used) - one trip so far to coast.  We also bought it from Mike Friends RV - nice people and very helpful with us newbies...
Have fun.

Our Pod (171) finally came in and we're getting it all dialed in how we want it for now. Everyone at Mike Friend RV was great and a pleasure to work with, we're very satisfied with all their help.

Forest River on the other hand isn't off to a great start with us.
> The trailer took them almost 50% longer to build than they'd (repeatedly) quoted.
> They screwed up and delivered it with the wrong fabric interior.
> The fit and finish, well, there isn't any: stripped screws, crooked everything, missing screws/bolts, holes in random things, missing hose clamps, loose wiring / exposed connections, caulking smeared everywhere but where it should be, etc, etc, etc.

Forest River warts aside we're enjoying it so far and slowly correcting all the deficiencies as needed, as we uncover them (or they crop up). I'll be posting some mods in the mod thread as we do them.

See you all out there on the road! Thumbs Up

The fit and finish, well, there isn't any. Thats funny! at least you seem to be taking it well and fixing what needs to be fixed as it appears. Our Vibe needed many repairs but they have all been fixed and we have learned to be happy and content. Smile

Thanks, always happy to provide some free amusement!

I've found that a sense of humor helps keep me sane(ish) when having to deal with stuff like this. Star

Exciting!   We are in the 3-stage (or is it 4?) of buying an R-Pod.   We also want the 171 for the same reasons you bought it.   Stage 1 is making room in our budget for a towing vehicle (planning on getting a Honda Odyssey).  Stage 2 is buying the Odyssey.  Stage 3 is buying the R-Pod.   I already have a 20 day road trip planned for it.  That will be preceded by two destination vacations.  One with complete hook-ups (probably Yosemite) and one primitive at Joshua Tree.

Stage 1 might have been deciding to actually buy an R-Pod.

Welcome to the group!

I actually am the middle of doing something similar.   For me it was a 4 year plan where stage one was getting a tow vehicle (last year).  Stage two was to get something to tow (RP 179 this year).   Stage three is taking a self funded sabbatical (two years from now) where I do a circuit of the country, visiting all my relatives scattered everywhere that I haven't seen in years (and possibly aligning it with a rally or two if possible).

I'm sure you will have a ball after all of the careful planning.

Thank you for the welcome.  I visited a few times after I discovered the forum.  Finally decided to sign up today.  I have already received some good feedback -- changing the tow vehicle from an Odyssey to a Pilot.   That is the beauty of planning.  Some of it will change, but that is normal.  We went from "We'll never buy a house" to "Maybe after the child graduates" to "We'll never buy a house" to "We're buying a house, cancel the vacation plans."    Life has a funny way of happening around the plans.
