The snow finally melted so I was able to hook up our new tow vehicle to our rpod this past weekend! It'll chug a lot more gas, but it's so much nicer towing with the Durango than it was with the Sienna. We took it for a little spin and then re-positioned it in the yard on some flatter ground so we can try out the r-dome this weekend.

Good looking rig! What kind of gas mileage do you get with the Durango?
We towed behind my sisters Honda Pilot and at 57 mph o\n flat level ground at sea level we only get 11 mpg. So I will tow behind our Dodge 3500 MegaCab diesel which got 13 mpg going up into the mountains. |

I've only towed around the block, so I can't comment on the mileage yet, but we expect it will probably be in that same range. Without the rpod we're seeing 15-18mpg, so 10-12mpg or even a little less wouldn't surprise me. I think I read somewhere on these forums about a guy who sealed off the bottom of his rpod to reduce drag and he saw a significant improvement in fuel economy. I may see if I can find some appropriate material and try to do the same. Worst-case scenario is it would protect the tanks from road damage. If I can get 15% better mileage it's worth a try.

Looks good! Where are you located in this great land? We hope to be where you are soon, can't get to ours yet, too much snow and mud to get to the horse barn on the back 20. Forecast is for more snow for the next few days. Hopefully by middle of next week we can get into the 40 degree range.
Seems like regardless of the TV, towing with the pod will cut your mileage in half, the usual mileage as you read the myriads of posts is usually between 10 - 13 mpg. Keep us updated on what you get with your rig. Thanks |

Question? My 2016 RPOD 178 came with an Rdome. One of the parts to set up the Rdome is a 18 foot piece of screen attached to a rubbr insert to keep bugs out. The screen is about 15 inches in width and 18 feet long. How do you attached it to the RPOD just using the rubber and Tracks? Seems like I should have a weighted bottom on the screen. Does the step have to be retracted when using the bug screen?

The steps need to be retracted on our 172T. I made several cuts in the screen however to allow it to hang straight around the axle and the steps. On the whole, we don't use the skirt bug screen often anymore. Too many other places to allow bugs in. Instead, we burn citronella candles inside the rdome. Seems to work well enough.
