I purchased my 2016 R-180 a month ago and have made 2 short trips to learn how to work everything. I am a widow and fulfilling a life time dream. Planning a month long trip in July out west and traveling back roads. So far I love my "Lizzy" and sure I will have questions as I branch out. Sara from South Georgia

Good for you! Enjoy your trip in July. The great thing about this forum is that if you do have questions about your 180 there will be others who have "been there already" that will have an answer for your questions.

My biggest concern right now is being able to back this thing into a campground site without being embarrassed or having to ask someone to do it for me

Slow and steady! We're rookies this year too, and are also heading west in early July. Maybe we'll see you in our travels I found a pretty good video on youtube about backing up - it might help you, too:

Happy travels!

Great video Marco. Take your pod with your vehicle and practice in a wide open area. For us we have 20 acres so no problem getting embarrassed. But even if you don't have vacant land available near you there probably is a large parking lot you can practice in somewhere close by. Practice, practice, practice, you will be an expert before you know it. The one tip I have heard mentioned many times on this forum is to put your hand at the top of the steering wheel. Move your hand clockwise to the right and the trailer will move to the right, as you view it from behind. Go left, counterclockwise and your pod will go left.

Welcome to the forum!
As mentioned, practice in an empty parking lot helps. I have been backing these things up for decades. Still, it is rare that I get it perfect on the first try - anywhere. Don't be too hard on yourself. Decide to enjoy the experience as part of chasing your dream.

When you practice take a friend with you to be a spotter , when possible you should use one. No one was born knowing how to back a trailer, I learned when I was young on the farm, but it does take practice
