We plan to stay at Wilderness State Park and then follow the shore line down to Van Buren State Park. Not quite sure how long we will stay at each park, maybe a night or two each.

Congratulations! I expect you will find your R-Pod as enjoyable as we have found ours.

Your trip sounds like our shakedown trip in December/January from NC to Nevada and Arizona to see our daughters and their families (Grandchildren!). Next time we head that way, we plan to go slower and see more along the way.

When you coming through MI?  Do you already have it mapped out what you plan on seeing when you are in the UP and LP?

Well I picked it up yesterday and now have a lot to learn. The dealer did a really good walk through with me. He answered my questions before I was able to ask them.
We plan a shakedown cruise next week locally for a couple of day and then we head of to the west. Colorado to visit my son and then on to the Dakotas, Badlands and then T. Roosevelt NP's. From there to the UP and LP of Michigan before returning home to good old Peachtree City just south of Atlanta. All in all about 4000 miles. Whew!!!

If they could somehow add bed space to the 180, it would be killer. As it is, the dinette is worthless as a bed because it's way too narrow.

One of the things that my wife and I considered when we chose the 179 was being able to get out of bed in the middle of the night without disturbing each other. Since the queen bed is turned the wrong way for that, she'll likely get the queen and I'll take the dinette when both of us are traveling. When we do our solo thing, I'm sure we'll use the queen.

The big butt, near pod like, 179 is in fact the most popular floor plan right now, I suspect the 180 will take over in a couple years. The current R-Pods by state/model list on the FB group shows the top 3 floor plans as 179>178>177. And that is even a bit skewed since the 179 has been in production the shortest amount of time of those 3.

You will definitely enjoy your HUGE upgrade.  After 35 years of tent and pop-up camping we feel like a king and queen in our 177.  And BTW be prepared to give tours of your 179.  We are used to doing that quite often in the past 5 years with our 177.
