Topic: Black water flush location Posted: 12 Jan 2016 at 8:13am |
Hello.
I have a 171 and have been very happy with it. The only thing ... It's inevitable, SOMETHING had to go wrong - my black water tank flush was installed incorrectly, no flush. From 'Search' I guess that this is a fairly common error.
There is a panel in the shower wall next to the bed that MAY allow access to the 'affected area' but it is neatly sealed and I don't want to unscrew it unless I have to. Does anyone know how to access the tubing in a 171 to get at the flush valve??
Thanks

On a 179 the one-way flush valve is located way up under the bathroom sink. It was a black plastic valve. I had to reverse my valve because it was installed backwards. I also had to flush out the water line going to the black tank because black water was able to back up into the line. I had to remove the spray end that is installed in the black tank and clean it out. I hope this helps you. Overall it wasn't a hard job and it let me know my system better.

I read a lot about those being installed incorrectly, guess I was lucky mine was installed correct. Good luck Happy Tripping, it's part of the fun learning how to make repairs.

The panel you are looking at is the plumbing access panel. Open there. 4 screws.

Mine (2014 177) was behind the bathroom sink. Also installed backwards. Removed the sink screws, pullEd off the sink, reversed the valve and reinstalled the sink. The hardest part of the job, by far, was cleaning up all the sticky caulking!

I have a 2015 178, and the black water flush doesn't work, I have looked everywhere for a valve, behind the plumbing access on bedroom wall, below the floor, inside right rear storage. Anybody have any idea where the flush valve is on a 178? THANKS

Not sure about the 178, but on my 177 I could not access it from the removable wall panel on the bathroom wall. That area is too high. I still had to remove the sink to get to it. But I think you should be able to look down and see it, though. Other threads on this topic show pics of what you should be looking for.

THANKS, I can hear a noise in that area when I put a hose on the flush line, but no water goes to the tank. Will investigate further tomorrow, if not I'll dump water in toilet and flush that way.

Common issue, the backflow valve is installed backwards.
