We have a 2015 rp176 our tv is a 07 chevy Suburban. I was thinking of mounting the spare on the front and installing a 2" slide for my thule 4 bike rack.
So....Spare mounted on the front near the lp tank, bikes in the back. Will this make the trailer to heavy? Has anyone carried 4 bikes on the back? Happy camping |

FR says not to use any rack besides the 2 bike one they recommend. The rear receiver is only 1 1/4 inch. Owners have reinforced the hitch mount and rear, then carried more weight items than recommended, but this voids a lot of warranty when you mod the frame..
Only you know what you are comfortable with and capable of. We carry on the tow vehicle roof. We can carry up to 6 bikes, or any combination of singles/tandem/recumbent, as needed/wanted. ![]() |

See my post today under bike racks before you pull the trigger on anything. I am very happy with the rack I now have and it is mounted on the front of my 178, the company also makes one that I think will carry four bikes.

I notice the spar tire on the back. The frame doesn't seem like it will hold the tire weight. Is the tire rack through bolted to the back or attached to the under frame? Any other suggestions on carrying the spar tire.Tired of moving it in and out of camper or back of truck.

I have heard of no issues with spare tire mount. It's really a set it and forget it deal.
As far as bike racks go, I'm a huge fan of my Swagman and have used it across the country and back and north and south. If I had to carry 4, I would still use the Swagman for two. ![]() ![]() |

I've been carrying 2 bikes on a Thule rack on the back of the pod for years, but I would not feel comfortable carrying more than that. My bikes weigh about 25# each, and the rack weighs about 40#. The capacity of the rear accessory hitch was labeled 250#, but that's static load, not bouncing bikes.
So far I've had no issues or seen any signs of damage to the pod from this arrangement. I do remember someone years ago suffering a rear hitch failure when the welds broke. Messed up the bikes real bad. Seems like it was determined the frame was faulty though and not due to overloading.
