Topic: Interesting Video on R-Pod Construction Posted: 11 Dec 2014 at 9:51am |
Just guessing the wheel is just for use in the factory for moving the pod around during construction.

That's just something they use in the production factory to make moving the Pods around the factory easier while they are constructing them.
None of us have tongue wheels from factory.

Kinda figured as much. Is it that the tongue weight is too heavy to use a wheel? Has anyone put on an aftermarket wheel and able to use it?

No reason not to.. or to, for that matter. Matter of personal choice. The pod does sit pretty low, and the wheels do add several inches to the minimum hitch height.. Usually you only see the wheels on while a TT is parked and only on VERY flat/level areas. Just for sort of shuffling them around a bit. We have dual batteries and propane tanks and I can lift/slide mine as needed.

I plan to do an additional shelf mod and don't want to sever electrical lines. From the video, I can't determine where the electrical lines that service ceiling utilities (AC, lights etc.) run. Anyone of you folks have a clue about this?

If your trailer is on a concrete slab a wheel works great for moving around by hand. We used one on our r-pod and currently use one on our Vibe. The only thing you may have difficult with is the wheel swiveling easy when making turns. The one that I have found to swivel easiest of the three that I have had has been the one manufactured by BAL.

What model pod, and where do you want to put the shelf?

I have a 2013 177. I built and installed several cabinets (a la Marwayne), which I posted several months ago. In Sept. I added a shelf (using those Lowes shelves) above the bed between the restroom partition and the wall. Now, I want to install a similar shelf above the other end of the bed next to the slide out.
Cheers.

I bought my 2011 RP-172 from Right Stop RV just south of Louisville Ky and there was a wheel that fits in the front jack so you can roll the pod around if on a flat surface. The drive where I keep the pod is a little steep and I dare not take a chance as I would have a runaway Pod.

My parking/storage surface is gravel so no use for a wheel. If a person had a level concrete pad, one might be handy. Otherwise, not much use (IMO).
