I want to post photos from my phone to the forum. Any advice on an app that will resize the photos correctly? I was having a difficult time doing this from my computer also. I know a little about photo editing with PSE12 and can resize photos to post on the web for websites like Flickr so the photos don't take so long to load, but maintain their integrity. But getting them "small" enough Kb-wise for this forum is a challenge!
Any tips for the iPhone or for the computer would be appreciated. Danke! |

I don't use Apple products...but isn't there an "app" for that?

MissyBuck, there are a number of apps available for your iPhone to resize images. One:
Assuming you are using a Mac, it's trivial to resize and export an image from iPhoto. fred

I can do a search in the apps store for apps for resizing photos, I just have not had success using any that I have tried. To make the image a small enough file size to upload, the image is so tiny you can't see it. I can post links to a Flickr album, but that, in my opinion is not ideal for every situation. I do use an iMac, but I know nothing about iPhoto, as my preferred editing software is Photoshop. |

ohhhhhh, you want photo compression...that is, something to reduce the size of the file (resolution) without changing the attributes (physical size) of the photo much. I use "any Email editor" or "Picasa" for that. I'm not sure, but maybe you can do a search in the apple store for "photo compression" and find an "App" for that!

Missy,
If your photos are in iPhoto it is simply a matter of: File:Export The options are pretty self explanatory. If you are using Photoshop: 1) Top Menu:Image Size Change width to 800 pixels. Height will automagically be calculated 2) File Menu:Save for Web and Devices. Use preset "Jpeg High" and save. That's all you should have to do. If you need some screen grabs for me to explain a bit better, let me know. Been doing this for a loooong time. Digital Darkroom was the first image editing software on a Mac...a year or two before anyone heard of Adobe. fred

Thanks - the email app is apparently not available for iPhone - bummer. And the picasa app has terrible reviews (the iPhone version). I'm sure I could figure it out on my iMac. I was just hoping there WAS an iPhone app for this. Bah! ![]() |

I don't know diddly squat about the iPhone, but I do a lot of photo editing and picasa, once you learn to navigate it, makes it real easy. Is it possible to Email your iPhone photos to a Gmail Account and then edit them from there? Just thinking outside the box... I have friends that send be GIGANTIC 2-5 gig photos all the time from their I phones, so I guess they don't get it either.

I have emailed my photos to myself and edited them on the iMac. I like to post while we are traveling as well. (The iMac doesn't travel well) And sometimes I just want to be lazy ![]() I will take another look at Picasa. Maybe I can do it thru the website instead of the app. I do know how to edit photos to upload and email easily :) ... https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/119235407@N08/sets/72157644778493954/ |

Sometimes I will add photos to Email and let the editor prep and compress them for sending. After it loads the photos to be sent I just pull them off and put them into a folder on my desktop and then delete the Email that was never intended to go anywhere. Yes, clearly use and abuse of the Email editor! But it works!
