I was wondering what I could do for an awning when I realized that SHARPIE HIGHLIGHTERS (the ones that are smaller than a sharpie, not the fat ones) slides in the track PERFECTLY and won't pull out.
So, here is what I did... 1. Tie a string to the eyelets and make a very close loop hanging off that you can put under the pocket clip of the highlighter. 2. Use a strong thin tape (I used mailing tape) and tape the open end of the clip and the lid on. Don't use too much tape and increase the sharpie circumference. 3. Do this on eat eyelet of the side of the tarp to go against the rPod 4. Stand on one side and guide them all in and stretch it to desired tightness!! I'm gonna tie the other side to the rack on my FJ. They fit perfect! I hope this works for everyone!!! |

That sounds pretty crafty and made me remember my old sailing days. If you want to make a really strong awning attachment you might want to consider sail slugs. They're cheap and would slide nicely:

You can also buy keeder tape, and sew that to your tarp/material easy peasy.

Funny you should mention sail slugs. That was the first thing I thought of. I have a Siltarp that is used as a cockpit boom canopy and was wondering how I could retrofit it or jury rig it to fit in the kedder rail without having to do any sewing.
