Topic: squirrels chewed through our propane line Posted: 01 Jan 2013 at 3:35pm |
They taste a little like dark meat of chicken with a nutty (hickory) background flavor. I love fried squirrel, just hav'nt had any for a while. The small greys are better eating than the old grey beard fox squirrels. Fry em up on a cast iron skillet.

With a single shot pellet rifle my count of those things is 95 without leaving my house. That is in about 1.5 years. I have seen them chew through RV water hose also.

Squirrels haven't found my propane line yet ...but they did chew several holes in my Pod cover <argh>
Turns out they don't like moth crystals :-)

I used to eat them. To much trouble to clean. Now I shoot them and feed them to the catfish (i.e., throw them in the lake).

I agree with the "rats with bush tails" description. I feel the same way. Out of curiosity, what does a squirrel taste like? Please don't say squirrel. :)

Shoot em and eat em. I love fired squirrel with fresh sliced tomato. cut up in small pieces, roll in Kentucky colonel seasonend flour and chicken fry them babies. when outside is crispy and brown remove from skillet and place them in a corning ware dish with no lid, put that in an oval baking pan with 1 inch of water, put lid on baking pan and put in oven at 200 d/f steam em for about 1 hour and thats some good eating.

To me squirrels are nothing more than rats with a bushy tail.

I hate squirrels. They've cost me thousands in damage to the house.

Been there, done that. Note that even the "aluminum foil" trick is not fool-proof. The squirells here even ate throught that. Find a hunk of heater hose that will slide over the propane line. Then wrap that with chicken-wire. That's the only combo that has worked for me.
