Topic: "Pet Poll" (You Asked for It) Posted: 22 Dec 2012 at 10:34am |
Here's your chance to tell the world, (or at least other Forum members), about the furry friends that inhabit your R-Pod with you. It's plain to see from some of our "signatures" that pets are an important part of the camping experience. Jennifer and Baxter were a driving force in our decision to take up RV'ing, and the R-Dome, which they love, was a major factor in selecting the R-Pod above other options. Vote and tell us your story!

Sixty-eight years on earth and never without at least one dog. I couldn't feature being without one or more. They give so much, ask for so little, and seem to mean even more to my wife and I as we age.

Thanks for the poll. We have two Havanese dogs and have replied.
It would be good to add the option of "travel with no pets" as Goose suggests.

As said in another post we travel with Boris and Betty, our two Boston Terriers. The cats stay home (they don't travel well and don't particularly like each other). We got our start in camping when we had our first Boston and a Cairn Tarrier. We went all over with them, and they loved going with us. Having the dogs along made it more fun for us too. Boris and Betty started camping with us in the van, and now are traveling with us in the pod. They are good campers, but Boris still seems to think that white thing is following the truck way to close.

When we bought our 152 we ideally thought we could each sleep in the bunks and leave the dinette up. However our dog went into protect-the-pod-and patrol-the-windows mode at the slightest rustle of leaves. We ended up all piled into our tiny dinette just to get a decent night's sleep.
In retrospect, had we known this, we should've gotten the 172. But still, we love our 152 even if we sleep quite literally squished all together with the dog. Luckily she's only a Mini-poodle. Wouldn't have been able to do this with a larger dog.

Coco is our 8-year-old Small Munsterlander Pointer, a pheasant hunting dog. She is our family pet, very responsive and well-behaved, and travels with us much of the time. She is very obviously loving, and kids (and there parents) often stop by our campsite just to see her. There are, however, some parks and destinations where she just does not belong. It's a disservice to her, as well as a nuisance for us, to cart her places then leave her confined. There's a time and place for everything.
