I've been lurking for a while and have absorbed lots of useful information -- thank you, all!  My mother, my daughter and I will be camping for the first time this weekend in our new (to us) 2011 R-Pod 172.   We're making our maiden voyage to Reed Bingham State Park, our "local" state park where I've tent-camped many times.  Our Georgia State Park system is awesome -- lots of great places to go with lots of fun things for my 7-year-old daughter to do.  In her honor, we're call ourselves the "Chatterpod"!  One of the things we enjoy outdoors is geocaching -- I haven't seen mention of it on this forum, but while you're out enjoying nature anyhow, it's a fun way to add a "treasure hunt" element.

Hopefully we'll have an uneventful weekend, but I'm sure I'll be discovering all the things I don't know how to do in an R-Pod!

Happy camping, everyone!

Leanne

P.S. -- We are located in the big town of Doerun, Georgia if you'd like to add us to the map.  Nowhere near Atlanta Tongue

Must be south Georgia?  And warm enough to camp at this time of the year?  I also think Georgia has the best state parks - they are wonderful.  Welcome to the forum.  Love the name ChatterPod!

Thanks for all the welcomes!  HodgePODge, it is great hear from another Georgian.  Yes, I'm in south Georgia, just below Albany in the southwest corner.  I looked up your profile and had to smile -- I was a college English major who drifted into teaching Spanish, then ESOL, then technology.  I'm now an assistant principal at a middle school.

It's going to be a brisk night tonight in south Georgia -- all the way down to 31 tonight (for about 5 minutes) but up again to 67 during the day.  That's perfect camping weather for me -- I can layer on the blankets, and I guess I'll see how well the furnace in the Pod works.  Probably won't really need it, though.

Happy Camping!

We got our 2011 RP-172 oct 13, 2011, only got to take it out twice, You will love it, it is like a tiny little mansion, nice cabinets, all the comforts of home in a small space, and it is COOL looking, even for us old folks. our daughter lived in St Simons Island ga, and we made many trips down there before her 40 year old husband decided he was not happy, I would have loved to camp in Georgia in the tall Pines, If you don't have fun in the pod, It's not the pod's fault, it tries at every level for you.
