Nice looking awning. Anyone try making one that is wider and uses the curves?

Ah, interesting, I didn't realise yours was built like that.  In my head I kept picturing a flat awning.  Congrats on finally getting it set up!
 
A note about building an awning with curved sides - many have found that the curved roof of the R-Dome (plus the short vertical sides attached to the roof of the Dome) hold in heat.  Our first trip out we set up the Dome in the sun and even with a fan blowing on high it was too hot to sit under it.  Standard awnings are flat so they don't have this problem.  EZ-ups have a sliver lining to help reflect radiant heat back up before it heats the air underneath, and also have a vent at the peak.  So my point is if you want to build one as long as the 'pod's C-channel you may want to add features like the EZ-ups have to prevent problems with heat.

Good question.  Here, take a look at a wider awning. 
 
It was made by the lady who made mine - this is her picture.  It is flat like Tech thought mine was, and it is quite a bit bigger than mine.  And of course, it is mounted on a straight not a curved track, but I bet it would slide into the R-Pod's curved channel just fine.  I just don't know how it would look.  If I find mine too small, I might want to try one of these later on myself.  LOL   See more awning photos at:

OK, now I understand why not the full legth of the track.  Now I'm not sure an awning solution like this would work on my RP-151.  I'm assuming my track size would be shorter than that of the RP-17x series, with even less "flat portion" at the top.  Does anyone have the entire length of the track, by measuring one side to the other with a cloth tape measure?

Since we are talking "custom" here... I should think a trapezoid shape could/would be doable.. Therefore having a shorter side at the trailer, but longer at the corner support poles. Since you are using cross braces anyways, the awning will be held up and kept taut just fine..

Good thinking outside of the box!  Pun intended.
 
Taking this one step further you could go with a pentagon or hexagon, but erecting it might be a chore.
