Topic: Another R-Dome Question Posted: 20 May 2011 at 10:46am |
I know, just what we need.....another R-Dome question. I think this one is a fairly simple one.
I am wondering if the sides and front zip off of the R-Dome. I really just want an awning and have no need for the screen sides and screen front. I really do need a little shelter from the Texas heat however. If they zip off, I could just leave them at home and have what looks to be a very nice awning.

The front zips off and the sides roll-up. You can store the R-DOME like that too (no need to re-roll the sides on every trip).

You might want to consider that if it should happen to storm, your dome front could be zipped on and will keep driving rain from turning the space in front of your pod into a mud hole and will keep fire wood dry. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info. I picked up an R-dome off Craigslist and will give it a shot. They wanted 650.00 at the dealer I bought the 175 from. Hope I like it, but I always have an EZ up if I don't

I always leave the front off. The side I leave on but usually rolled up. I also put the picnic table under it. That way the table is in the shade.

I should be able to try it out in about 3 weeks. If it works well, I might even cut out the sides.....but then again, if I do that.....there is no going back.

Well my last post was prophetic! It rained like crazy the last night of our Victoria Day camp out and we were really really happy to have our Dome. We are not complaining about the water because we need it but it was great to have that extra, dry area come morning when son, daughter-in-law and two grandkids piled in with us for breakfast. They were tenting so I got to watch the kids in the warm, dry Pod while the others broke camp.
