Hello All,
Hope someone can help with this problem. We just returned from a 2 week trip and only needed to run the a/c a couple of hours on a few days. The last time we ran it on 'low fan/cool' it would shut off, fan and compressor. Breaker not tripped. Would have to turn off at thermostat and restart without problem, but then it would shut off again, I suspect when temp reached. I understand this is normal in 'auto' mode but not in 'fan/cool' mode. I'm pretty handy just not a great diagnostician. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TY |

First thing to try is a replacement therostat. Next thing to check would be the start capacitor on the roof. Test it with an electrical meter.

Finally a reply. Thanks for answering. I was leaning toward the t-stat but been down that rabbit hole before 'parts changing' before finally Forest Gumping my way into a solution. I'll need to research how to test a start capacitor. I've replaced them before on my home a/c unit but it was obvious they were bad, they were swelled up.
Thanks again, I'll let you know how what I figure out. |
