Been reading about others having issues with their propane fridges.  Even mine decided to retire at 10 years of age which to me doesn't seem very long in light of the fact that it only gets used 4-6 weeks each year.

My question is this: why is it that the Amish and others who don't use electricity can have their same propane powered refrigerator last 25-30 years or more and those things runs constantly.  Is it because they are always running or a different chemical inside the boiler or better, higher quality components?  Just thinking out loud, their appliances last much, much, longer than our tinker toy ones in the R-Pod.

Interesting question. I suspect one major difference is the jarring experienced by an absorption fridge on a trailer. The Amish fridges don’t vibrate and bounce over 4-6 weeks a year.

I suspect constant operation helps as does the fact that it is in a fixed, level location. It also is probably not exposed to the conditions found in the RV such as high summer heat beating down on the trailer.
