I drug one of my stabilizer jacks and bent the crap out of it. It has 4 bolts and 2 tack welds. Must it be welded?
What kind is it? Where is the best place to get a replacement? |

I replaced both mine about 5 years ago due to uneven ingress and egress areas while boondocking on back roads. First thing was to add a 3.5" lift kit from FR - took just under 1 hour to change out using a pair of floor jacks and basic hand tools. To address your question. I did not tack weld the new ones back on. In fact I did have to drill a few new holes as the old ones were to wallered out to due justice with new stabilizers. I got mine off EBay , at that time they had the best price and free shipping. Look under scissor jacks or stabilizers.

I replaced mine in the back after banging them up on a hillside. Not hard to do, used these:

I would suggest that IF possible, think about orienting the base so that one bolt/screw is on the main front/back frame member and one on the side to side frame member. It seems logical that this might help side to side stability. maybe the engineers can comment?? Travel safe Vann

And when you put them back on, try a Sav-a-Jack. Still have my originals after 6 years......

Mine were mounted diagonally as well. Since the stabilizers are very stiff parallel to the scissors and much more flexible perpendicular to the scissors I agree that diagonal mounting ought to be better overall than if they were mounted with the scissors parallel to the frame. Best would be with two stabilizers toed in and the other two toed out, then there would be good lateral resistance in all directions.
