We found some decent suction cups at Harbor Freight for less than $3 each.

We picked ours up at a local Meijer store for $ 3.50 each (Michigan) have had them for 7 years and still working well. A similar product can be found at Walmart for around $ 3 each.

I honestly never had a problem with the factory supplied suction cups. I woiuls clean the area, lightly moisten the suction cup, press down hard on the center, then with the lock/hook pointed straight up. At that point, press the lock/hook down sideways to lock it on. Now try pulling on it, it's nearly impossible to pull it off.

We gave up on the suction cups and use bungees, two on each end. Use top hole & middle hole of the dome, attach around frame in front & spare in rear.
