I'm trying to figure out how the furnace works in my 2014 178. When I turn the furnace on it is from the regular wall thermostat. The AC fan immediately starts with the furnace. Does that mean it will not work without shore power?

You should have the fan set to auto, then turn on the heat. It should then light, and begin blowing out heat. It will probably smell too, especially if it hasn't run for a while. I usually have my bathroom vent open a little and the fan on low when I run heater.  It will run on battery, or electric.

My thermostat is a little round one with 1 botton for function and 2 for up and down. My curiosity is whether the ac fan runs on 12v?

Yes the fan that blows the hot air from the furnace into the trailer runs on 12v and if my memory serves me correctly when the thermostat calls for heat the furnace will start the fan to make sure there is no build up of gas in the furnace before the self ignitor will light the LP gas.  Maybe that is what you are hearing is the purging of the furnace.  I am going by memory as to the sequencing, hope this helps.

Actually, whenever the furnace is running, the noisy roof ac fan runs. That's what I am curious about.

I can't imagine that it can run like this when on 12v. I think it would just eat a battery alive.

I think you turn off the fan on the thermostat and then turn on the furnace. The furnace fan turns on when the furnace comes on so the fan setting on the thermostat is for the AC. At least I think that is the way things work.

If you are on shore power the A/C fan will run when the furnace is running unless you set the digital thermostat to the correct setting. I can't remember the setting, but if its on 'auto' try low or high, if its on low or high now, try auto.

The A/C fan will NOT run on battery power when unplugged from shore power.

If the thermostat is the same as ours, setting the fan to Auto will keep the AC fan from turning on when the furnace calls for heat.
