Calendar Event: Newbie here Posted: 19 Sep 2020 at 7:33pm |
Hi,
I just purchased a 2010 171 Rpod yesterday! I cleaned it today(in the rain) and noticed a small leak by the back window. I am hoping to have it checked out soon if the rain ever stops.
Tried to upload a pic but it is not working at the moment.
I live in South Mississippi, 45 minutes shy of New Orleans. Hope to meet you guys and gals on the road Ahead!
Happy Camping

Welcome.
If you only have a small leak then I guess you're doing well considering the season y'all have been having so far.
Good luck getting things dried out. I hope no more dang hurricanes head your way for awhile.
We moved inland from Hatteras NC last year, just got to where we couldn't take all the storms anymore.

Thank you and yes, I am inland about 30 miles from the coast. I am starting to feel this is still too close. Enjoy life!

I know the feeling well. When we moved inland it was 300 miles in and 2000 feet higher. And on high ground well away from any flood zones. A fire or tornado might get us here but not a hurricane.
On the outer banks we found our rPod to be an excellent bug out platform. Used it multiple times during evacuations. Beats trying to find a hotel room along with all the other evacuees. We found the trick to be to leave early, before the official evacuation notice, and select a distant destination well away from the projected track. That way it turns a miserable experience into a nice camping trip. The other thing we learned is to resist the temptation to rush back. Wait till the water subsides and the power is back on at home.
Have fun with your new trailer!

Be sure to check the spoiler as the source of the leak. Your trailer came under the recall for clearance lights and it should have had a spoiler added to accommodate rear lighting. That spoiler is notorious for causing leaks. There are several threads with pictures showing how to seal it. We sealed the spoiler for our 2009 172 shortly after the dealer did the recall work and, thankfully, never had any leakage.

I came to say the same as lostagain. I repaired my spoiler this spring and no more leaking! The process is easier than it seems and there's lots of information here. I went with eternabond.
You're going to love your pod.

Thank you for informing mr of that. I already love it so much. I can’t wait to use it. Do you use a weight distribution hitch and sway bar? I have a Toyota Tacoma that I told with but the gross vehicle weight is only 3500 pounds so I am wondering if I need to get one so as not to mess up my truck.

Please forgive me for sounding dumb as this is my first camper. But what is a spoiler and where is it located?

The black plastic thingy that extend across the roof at the back of the trailer. Its supposed to reduce the air drag of the rPod, debateable how much it actually does. It also houses the upper marker lights.
