Topic: Back, long window curtain Posted: 15 Nov 2019 at 8:54am |
Can anyone help with installing or fixing or? the long back window curtain in my 178 which does NOT slide open and shut well at all, as it gets badly caught on the screws. I have tried tightening the screws which did nothing. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

The real problem with those curtains is that the rods are too far apart (or the curtain is too short) and the pockets for the rods are too small. My wife made some replacement curtains that are looser and, therefore, open and close much more easily.

Hi Carolyn, I have a different model so please clarify: do you mean the fabric curtain that is attached top and bottom with rods? If so, I removed mine and made a flat shade with loops on the bottom. When I want it open it rolls up with ties. When I want it closed I drop it and slip the loops over use the brackets that were there.

There are no 'rods' per se. The curtain slides along tracks - upper and lower - only the curtains do not slide because of getting hung up on the track screws. Do you mean you took out/off/unscrewed the existing tracks then somehow put in a shade or?

We had the same frustration with the rear curtain. Ripped it down and installed a blind like the other windows. Love it now.

No. I actually have rods. I guess our models are more different than I thought.

My 179 came with the plastic tracks and I had the same frustration with it not wanting to slide. I made new curtains and got rid of the plastic track, installing two long curtain rods instead. I also made them long enough to go side-to-side across the 179's kitchen. A tie in the middle holds them open if we want it wide-open. Otherwise, we open them a bit and then just pull them closed at night. The rods have holders at each end and an additional holder in the center due to the length of the rods.
