I carry a 10 1/2 foot Porta-Bote with a 2 1/2 HP Suzuki 4 stroke motor on my 180 R-Pod. I would 
hardly believe you could sink this one. They sell everything you need to mount it on your rig.Look up the info. info@porta-bote.com. I sure love mine, will be fishing all summer wherever I roam.

The orus are awesome, and those modular ones are pretty cool too. I don't do whitewater, just flatwater recreational stuff, so I'm taking a chance the $350 folders will work for me. If not, they've got a return policy.

Thanks to both of you for posting this site, I'm very intrigued. And this in spite of having a wonderful kayaks that we love, but I can definitely see a couple of these for easier logistics in some of our settings and trips. Good food for thought.

And in the canoe/kayak world, I always thought there was a big distinction between capsizing and sinking. (I think the Amazon reviewer talked about tipping his boat....) It's not very hard to tip over just about any canoe or kayak, and for me anyway, that used to be part of the fun and adventure.  You just catch your stuff before it floats too far away, right the boat and get back in, probably a lot cooler than you were before.  Sinking, to me, means your boat is at the bottom of the lake and a salvage operation. if possible, might be more trouble than it's worth.

I saw a foldable boat at REI yesterday. I don't know what brand.  I was hoping they still carried Advanced Elements boats, but apparently not.  REI has a 20% off one item sale for members right now, which would have made them pretty competitive for just about any kayak.  Anyway, I wasn't very impressed with the foldable boat they had.  Maybe for lakes and slow flat water, if that's all you're interested in.  Any kayak will do that though.  I want one that can offer more excitement.

That's actually the next plan if the folding boats disappoint. I have hope, though, it's an interesting design.

I would use one rack on the cab and built a rack coming off the rear or front bumper to hold the other end.
