Topic: RV Storage Posted: 03 Aug 2010 at 10:50pm |
I would appreciate some guidance I have just purchased an R-pod 177while at my summer home in MN. I will be trailering it to my winter/fall home in coastal NC in Sept. I have room for storage of the unit on my MN property in the summer but I'll need some sort of storage unit in NC since I live in a condo & they won't let me store it on the grounds. It seems that nearly all self storage units in the area have ceilings & garage doors lower than the 10 ft. I would need to accommodate the unit. Several have outdoor units or some with a stall like roof. Is there any risk to storing the unit in the open due to the salty atmosphere near the ocean? Thanks.

I am sure that someone will be along to answer your question soon. Congratulations on your purchase. Where do you go in NC? We rent a house in South Nags Head every year. In addition, we are thinking of taking the pod to a campground on Hatteras Island in November ---Ocean Waves, I believe. Are you at all familiar with this campground?

Maybe you can find a storage place inland a little. Check the internet for some.

Terry, I've been looking on the internet for about a month. I have been to the outer banks of NC but haven't yet brought the camper there. We're actually a good ways south of Hatteras, in Southport which is between Wilmington & Myrtle Beach.

I don't know if you'll have much luck on the internet. At least, you wouldn't around here, anyway. Most of the storage lots here are mom and pop outfits that rely on a roadside sign or word-of-mouth to bring in customers.
You may have some luck by calling a few dealers in the area and asking if they know of any local storage lots.

Also you might check some of the RV Campgrounds, some have storage areas.

Off season I have a freind who stores their camper at a camp ground. During the season he is pulling it all over the place.

I should have mentioned exactly what I was thinking. Most towns have a web site showing the business that they have and phone numbers. You might luck out.
