Hello to the group! I just picked up a lightly used 2017 R-Pod 180. Very impressed with it as I just got back from a 2500 Mile round trip vacation with no major problems! Hope to learn AND teach a lot here!!

Welcome and Congratulations! You dove right into the deep end with a 2500 mile trip. We recently completed one almost 6500 miles. I hope you have many fine adventures and make many great memories in the process.

Welcome to the forum.  Great to hear you had a grand shakedown journey!  Where did you go and what are your likes and dislikes of the 180?

Congratulations!!! We recently bought a new 180 and we love it. Going to be heading to Carmel this weekend for the ‘Carmel Weenie Roast’, the Carmel Dachshund Club’s big meet up. There will be 300 doxies on the beach. The Oscar Meyer wiener mobile will be there. We have a reservation at a private park in Felton, in the redwoods near Santa Cruz. This will be our first trip away from home in the new rPod. Going to try out my new Equalizer WDH.

Go to the Sanddab Restaurant on the commercial pier in Monterey, really good food great service.  I've been going there for over 30 years.

I'll mention this in case you're not familiar with the area - be sure you get an early start to drive from Felton to Carmel. Traffic on any summer day, and especially a weekend, is extremely heavy between the Hwy 9 corridor (Boulder Creek, Felton) and Carmel/Monterey. Also check out the angle into your RV park before you commit to trying to turn in. The one I'm familiar with, because we have friends who live there, has such a sharp right turn into the park when coming from Hwy 1, that I had to jockey my pickup truck (no Pod) to make the turn. Feel free to send a PM if you want more details and don't want to include the name of the park here. In any case have a great trip! Sounds like a fun event and a great shake-down for your RPod!

Hah! Never mind ... just saw that you already made the trip, sorry about not noticing the date. Trust it was great!

Yes. It was fun but an exhausting weekend. We were up until 1:00 am Friday night / Saturday morning getting things ready. Up at 6:00 am and hitched up and left town at 7:30. Gas and breakfast in King City, then got to Carmel at 11:00 am. Had to find a residential street to park on because I had the trailer with me. The Dachshund meet up started at noon and check in time at the campground, in Felton, wasn't until 2. Wife wasn't happy with the location I chose to park. It was three blocks from the beach, but it was a good location. Wide enough street and no driveways to block. Plus, the trees were high enough that they wouldn't take out the top of the pod. Carmello street three blocks up from 12th and Scenic.
(I carried everything and had to make three trips. All she had were the dogs to deal with.)

Left Carmel at 5:30 pm and promptly got lost trying to find Hwy 1. Siri was NO HELP AT ALL! Traffic was plentiful but not too bad. It took about 90 minutes to get to the camp ground. (Smithwoods).

Checked in and immediately had to bathe the doxies because they were covered in sand. I set up my outside table under the outdoor shower and filled a plastic bin with warm water. After she would wash each dog I would off load the used sudsy water to a five-gallon bucket and dump it into a funnel I inserted into the sewer drain. (Didn't spill any water on the ground!)

After each of us took showers it was time to cook dinner. At this time it was after 11:00 pm. We wanted to cook something easy so we settled on bean, cheese, and turkey burritos. After grating the cheese and cooking the beans and meat She tells me that she forgot to pack the tortillas!!!!

So, We opened a bag of tortilla chips and made nachos!!!

I was planning on taking a bike ride in the morning but I was so tired that I slept until 10:30!

Had breakfast in the rPod and cleaned up, then packed down. Gas in Salinas and home by 6 pm. I would have liked to have stayed longer and ridden the steam train through the redwoods but I wanted to be home before dark to put the trailer away and I had to work the next day.

It was a fun weekend but...very rushed and exhaustive. Dogs had fun. They slept like logs!
