We are on the road and our 2017 179 is in storage. While it is a 2017 it is the green color as the model changed 3 weeks after we bought it.
Does the 2017 179 have an outlet for attaching a gas grill? The new ones do if you get the standard value package.

Ours is a green 2016. Like yours, it does not have a propane grill attachment. You could add one but I just carry an extra tank and a hose that attaches to it and to the grill's regulator. That way I am not limited as to where I can set up our Coleman grill/stove.

I believe that the propane grill attachment started sometime during/after the switch to the blue color. Model year designations on R-pods are pretty loosey-goosey

You can also get a half size propane tank- for more $,of course -that might store better and be more flexible for location. But would be cheaper than the RV place will charge for an outlet.

I had two of those small LPG bottles with my ‘67 Alaskan truck camper. They were small and stored easily but cost the same to fill as a standard five gallon tank because of the ‘minimum charge’ for the gas retailers. I think they were two and a half gallon bottles. They did work really well with a BBQ though I mostly used them for the stove and fridge on the Alaskan. |

Our 2017 model 180 has the outside gas grill attachment/outlet/ or if you wish to call it port and we love it. Hopefully your Pod does too since its the same year but different model. If not here is a suggestion if you don't have this outlet. Price out at your local RV dealer service center to add this to your Pod then head over to your nearest propane supplier. Not just the place that can fill your propane tank but also services homes and can sell you fireplaces, grill's, ect. and check out their price. They can easily retro fit a propane port on your Pod for probably less money then the RV dealer. Remember you'll also need a grill that does not have a gas regulator since you already have one with your present propane tank. Some people like carrying around the extra propane tank and such where as myself its just plug in my 10' hose with a quick disconnect and I'm in business to grill out! I also carry a nifty portable metal camp table that weighs next to nothing and fits in its own small sack to set my grill on since many campgrounds frown or out right prohibit you from placing your grill on the campsite picnic table.

Do you have a link for that folding table? I'm new to this, but I don't quite get it all. I have a new 190 with the regulated propane outlet. I also have a 2 burner propane camp stove and a propane Weber grill. Originally I thought I'd run the portables off the main tank, but that would require either removing the regulators from the portables, or re-plumbing the gas lines from the main tank to the outlet and buying a long hose. I don't mean to question the good judgement of those that have done that, but what's the big deal about just using the portables with the little propane bottles?

If you want to carry portable propane bottles be them big or small go for it but my thinking is why when you already have a regulated propane tank and outlet? Just adds to complexity and just one more thing to carry if you want to take a grill along. Where as with using the auxiliary propane outlet all I need to do is carry a quick disconnect house that I store right inside the grill. No gas bottles to deal with and all you have to do is to either modify your present grill or buy one without a regulator. These are the portable tables I use, shop around for a better deal. |

The biggest issue for me with the little bottles is cost. Here, they are $3.50 each.. that's $3.50 a pound. There are 20 pounds in a regular propane tank, meaning it costs $70 to use a 20 pound tank worth of propane, when I can fill my tank at Tractor Supply for $2.39 a gallon, or about $12.. In 2 tanks worth, I will have paid for any and all mods/hoses/regulators.
