Thanks! Yep, the pods are pretty good sellers up here. I’m eager to get out in mine but want to wait until after the July 4th chaos. Not big on crowds.....

Congratulations on your rPod. We Love our new 180!
My parents are currently camping in Alaska in their Thor motorhome. They told me that they’ve seen a lot of rPods there. Can’t help you on generator selection. My wife likes full hookups and private parks!😉 |

I’ll probably use the microwave, but the AC is doubtful. I’m definitely considering a solar panel, given our abundance of daylight here during the summer months. But I do want to have the ability to use the microwave, thus my leaning toward a 2K.

Alaska... Will you need the a/c or microwave? If not, and I suspect.. "not".. you can do a week long trip easy on a good dual battery set-up, and indefinite length of time (electrically/12v wise) with a decent solar panel set-up to keep the batteries charged.

Welcome and congratulations! It sounds like you already had your first adventure. Sorry about the hatchet. Hope it heals quickly. We have a Generac iX2000 that works well. I just finished installing Micro-Air Easy Start soft starter and tested it. If you do go for either of those models or other generator in the 2000 Watt range, the Easy Start would be a good addition to make sure your generator will be able to run it without issue. Micro-Air is selling the Westinghouse i2500 for $599.99. That seems like a good deal. If you get one, either buy or make a generator bonding plug (fixes the floating neutral of the small generators by tying the ground and neutral terminals together. If you use a circuit analyzer, it may show a fault without a bonding plug. I don't know what shipping would be to Alaska though.

Greetings from the 49th state. I’m a newbie, and I’m somewhat overwhelmed by all of the info I’m trying to absorb about my 179. Got it three weeks ago, drove it home from Anchorage to Fairbanks, a distance of 360 miles. Camped en route, no problems other than an encounter with a hatchet that I lost (blood, stitches, etc.). New campground at 135 on the Parks Highway, so had power. However, most of my adventures will be either boondocking or at dry campgrounds. I’m trying to decide which generator to buy - a Honda 2000 or Yamaha. Both get good reviews, with the Yahama seeming to edge out the Honda on a few fronts. Since I doubt I will ever need the AC, I think the 2000 will meet my needs. Any recommendations out there? I suspect this will end up being a six to one, half a dozen to the other..... Thanks for any input.
