Topic: New 176T Posted: 07 Apr 2018 at 8:29am |
I also have a frontier, and I had a tonneau cover put on it. I dont pretend it can't be opened with a simple pry bar, but, it does offer a small amount of security for bed cargo. The problem with most suv's as a tow vehicle is, they just wern't built to be a tow vehicle. Many suv's "look" like they are powerful, only to find out they are built on a toyota corolla platform. My frontier has part time 4 wheel drive, so the normal maintainance you think of with trucks is cut way back. It helps improve gas mileage as well, although the frontier isnt great on gas.

"Problem with trucks is anything in the back is essentially unsecured. Anyone can walk off with it. And
I have not seen many toppers, covers, etc that a determined man with a
jackknife couldn't get into in 5 minutes. Plus IMO upkeep is higher on
trucks, although those larger SUV's probably blur that line a fair
amount."
I have a solid cover on the bed of my pickup that is just as hard to get into as a car. Realistically that is not hard either. All any of this does is remind honest people that they are honest.

Congrats from a 176t owner. Love mine. Get a new mattress though. The stock one is awful.

Did some driveway camping this past weekend. The 176t will work well for us.
I installed the WDH and was much happier going down the road.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W919GLM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Funny thing, the latches that "lock" the queen bed lid are not operable. They do latch, but don't lock. the key will not turn. Do y'all have the same issue?
Also, they gave us some keys that fit nothing. They look almost exactly like the 751 key, but are missing a groove so they fit no where. (yes, i tried them for the queen hatch).

Welcome! We picked up our 2018 176T midsummer last year. Love the extra space and open feeling the tent provides. In very cold weather we keep the tent closed which also works just fine.
Just picked up the Ikea mattress for the large bed.
Our rpod came with 3 keys. one for the main door, one that's does the storage lockers and rear hatch and one for the outdoor shower door.

We got a key without the groove as well. It's worthless. Get copies of the one with the grove. Take it to a hardware store and get the right one. They're universal.

None of my keys matched my trailer. Locksmith took care of that. Mine lock just fine.

I've been exploring mattress options and came across these on Amazon. They are almost exact size for both bunks and queen beds. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F5PNLMS/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A37Q7WB9378G7B

Best upgrade I have made yet. New mattress from mattressinsider.com . Its thicker so it takes more space. The ONLY recommendation I have is. The stock mattress is so many inches wide. With the tent closed up I have turned the mattress 90 degrees to sleep on it. It was fine, but too wide. I would actually consider getting a couple inches smaller so I can sleep without the tent. I have done it out east, Arkansas and Texas. It kept the AC usage down and the noise down.
