I don't know how common it is, but the subject comes up once in a while.

IMHO - there are enough reputable RV dealers in my area, that I stay away from Camping World. The dealers I have dealt with have long term reputable employees that are truly experienced at what they do, I didn't get that same sense from our local Camping World.

Like any other chain it's entirely dependent on the local store and its staff. Some good, some bad.

That's pretty much me too.  If I'm in a hurry for something (don't want to wait 2 days for Amazon or E-Trailer, I'll go to CW.  For service, it is almost always easier and quicker to find another dealer or specialty shop (like for brakes or wheel bearings).

I agree we had all our warranty service done at the Fort Myers, Florida Camping World for our R-Pod and Vibe and we thought the service was very good. But that could of been that location and at that time. We are now needing a new microwave replacement and Camping World has the best price for a Dometic microwave. But their service fees I think are on the high side. We will install the microwave ourselves.

I agree with the thought of "location specific". I'll go further and say it can even be "person specific". Some people really want to help us. Others (it seems) view us as a "rude interruption" to their day - resisting anyway they can.

I tend to favor "mom & pop" operations. There are fewer employees and it is easier to get a "feel" for who I will be dealing with.

agree! The dealership that we buy from is family owned and rwally aims to please and takes care of their customers.
