Calendar Event: new owner of a 178 Posted: 27 Feb 2018 at 8:34am |
We just purchased our new 2018 Rpod model 178 and excited to take our first trip to Savannah this month. Why is there not an outside tv cable connection on the trailer. When you install the shelf over the bed and dining area are you just laying the shelf on the window trim or are screwing in the wall?

There should be an outside connection. It is covered with a black rubber cover and on the rear driver side on our 179.
Not sure about the shelf....would love to have one also.

See my mods for how I added a shelf to our 179 (link in signature). I made brackets and use Command Strips. Now that our 179 is out of warranty, I may add short anchors and use screws (less than 1") to make it even sturdier.
+1 on cable connection. On our 2016 RP179, it is at the rear corner near the power connection and has two connections--one for cable TV and another for Satellite. I have not used either one. I don't know if the 2018 models kept that as a feature as I did not see it in the features list when I looked on Forest River's R-Pod site. |

The cable/SAT on my 2015 178 is a driver side rear, left of the water heater. I used wire shelves from Lowe's both front and rear of Pod, supported by closet rods, if needed I can hang things on them. They are supported by the window valances.

Hey thanks for the info..how much weight do you put on the wire shelves ? I am thinking shower rod with rubber friction on the ends to help take some weight of the window trim. What do you think ?

Bully,
I used wood dowel rods, stained them, because the wood compliments the white wire, shower rods are also a good choice. I bought some weave baskets at Lowe's and use them to store small items in. The rod really supports the weight, but I don't carry real heavy stuff, toiletries, socks, and then hang shirts, pants and jackets (at window ends of rod). As I recall I couldn't find a shower rod that extended across the trailer and didn't bow. In the front I used corner shelves not the full 6' shelf, again with a closet rod, so I can hang there too. Two baskets, one in each corner, hold small items. On the ends of the closet rods, I did use the standard rod holders for closets. I can send you pics if you send me a PM. |
