Been a long winter with no rpodding, our 179 is still surrounded by snow and ice. Going to head out tomorrow, going to Punxsutawney, PA for ground hog day! First time! Should be fun! Then headed north to get some winter shot of Niagara Falls. Keeping busy until podding starts!

Hey LEO,
Things are mellowing in TN, I could Pod now. Probably a couple light snows left, but I think frigid weather is gone for this year. I have to take a load of car parts to TX in next month or so. Would like to head to Center Hill for crappie fishing in MAR. Staying busy:) |

I can’t tell you how happy I am that we decided to escape Michigan and do a first-ever Snowbirding trip to Florida with the 179. It is just awesome being here and having the Pod with us.

60 days until our first planned '18 trip/rally.. hopefully we will slip down to the lake or Mammoth Cave before then for a weekend or more.. But no matter what, 2 months EXACTLY from today, we intend to be camping in GSMNP..

Ufff, I was sweating like crazy while I was out cleaning the remnants of the r-Pod loopy sticker glue from our Pod, dressed in a T=shirt. I should have put on some shorts and sandals, but I was afraid of getting sunburned. The good thing is the sun heats up the sticker glue so it's easier to get it off with denatured alcohol. The bad thing is the heat evaporates the alcohol too fast. Next is a real good wash and wax job.
I'm even thinking of un-winterizing soon. But in theory, we still have another month os sub freezing temp's at night. ... in theory...

We're up here in NY freezing our butts off. I'm hoping for good weather when we go pick up our 189 in March from Couch's RV. That will be our first adventure with the Rpod. Can't wait.

Probably should have tried Goo Gone instead of denatured alcohol. Either that or lacquer thinner. Neither will hurt the gel-coat finish. |

WD-40 works well too.

Stephen, I first used Goo-Gone and it left a horrible mess and didn't get the glue off. Lacquer thinner damages the gelcoat though not as badly as acetone. The alcohol, once you get the stickers off with a window razor, dissolves the glue and leaves no residue. The remainder of the glue that the paper towel doesn't pick up can be brushed off with a fresh towel with alcohol on it. Also, the alcohol is a little safer as it is water soluble and isn't as easier on the lungs when you are exposed to the vapor, even outside. And, it leaves no trace once evaporated, unlike lacquer thinner that leaves a slight residue, again the same as acetone.

mcarter, WD -40 also leaves an oil residue that you have to wash of with pretty strong detergent. Though it's relatively volatile it still leaves a greasy film behind.
