Nissan Towing Guide for 2010
You should be just fine. Even if it did not come with the towing package, it is rated for both 2wd and 4wd at 6,500 lbs. With the towing package, it is rated fat 9,100 lbs for 2wd or 9,000 lbs for 4wd. |

I plan to tow with a 2010 Nissan Armada (5.6 V8). Has anyone in the forum towed with an Armada before?
My mechanic said it should do fine, but I would like to hear what the experience of others has been. |

Good advice! Out here in California the max speed for towing a trailer is 55mph (which I adhere to). Most others seem to think it's merely a suggestion, however.

Slow down and keep your speed to 60 mph or lower. It will help. Also, on climbs, keep your engine RPMs to 3000 rpm or lower if possible. You may not be the fastest going uphill, but your wallet will appreciate having more in it at the end of the trip. |

Thank you for the VERY info-packed reply. I'm now pulling my r-pod with a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. Now it'll pass everything but a gas station!

Look for an engine with close too (or more) than 300 ft/pds of torque, a 6 speed (or more) transmission. Tow happy. This is why diesels perform so well as tow vehicles, lots of torque at lower RPM's.
If the tow vehicle can tow 3500 pounds, then towing anything near that weight will be slow going, and feel very under powered at 55+ mph or hills, mountains. At a tow vehicle rating of 5000 pounds, it's just barely better, but likely tolerable unless you spend a lot of towing miles in mountainous terrain. It will still be slow. No races won. At a tow vehicle rating of 7500 pounds or more, the vehicle will perform extremely well when pulling anything under 4000 pounds. Once you start piling on the weight, then like all other scenarios, you will be slowing down on hill pulls anyway.

My TV is a F150 4X4 Supercrew 5.4 V8 with the heavy duty tow package. I like the headroom it gives me towing our Pod.
