See my mods for pictures of the Stromberg-Carlson Trailer Tray. That would serve your purpose for carrying the generator. However, I found it was not big enough to carry the generator plus a gasoline container. We have a Generac iX2000. I don't know how the Coleman generator compares in size. I moved the spare to a BAL Hide-A-Spare and used the hitch for a rack on which I carried a gas can, spare propane cylinder, and some accessories. We have a Frontier now, so I can carry many of those items in the truck bed now instead.

Our 177 carries two 20 lb. cylinders and two 12v batteries on the front. There are other posts on this forum showing where people have come up with some novel ideas to store stuff in front of the pod.

The a/c needs 1800 watts to run, more when it first kicks on. i hear the 2000 watt can run it, but only if you run ONLY the a/c.

Honda is a good choice. I have a 179 and we are happy with the 2000i. Everything you need if you don't us the AC unit. The 2000i is easy to handle and not too heavy. I transport my generator in the TV.

First time posting on the forum. Bought a 2016 179 R-Pod last year and spent almost 20 nights out in the wilds of Colorado. Now that I have used my pod I have a couple of things I would like some of you experienced pod owners to weigh in on. I would like to purchase a Coleman generator for boon-docking power. What is your best thinking regarding purchasing 2 Coleman 1000 generators versus 1 Coleman 3000 generator. Additionally, is there a way to add a storage rack to the front of the pod for storing my gas cylinder, batteries (2) and Coleman generator(s)? Other solutions possible?
Thanks, tpod (Tom)
