well, my dealer doesnt think a cover is needed. they leave them uncovered on the lot all winter. of course the trailer isnt their personal property, and will be sold to someone else. I decided to go with no cover also, hopefully it isnt something ill regret. I dont cover my car in the winter.

I would avoid the cheap tarp route as the winter winds will cause the tarp to move back and forth across the finish giving you a dull finish or worse yet, decals semi rubbed out as a result. Better to spend a few extra $$ and getting a cover that will be tight and firm, avoiding any movement (or lessening it) resulting in damage to the finish. I wish the 178 was available when I purchased my 177 back in January 2011. Great floor plan and more room than I have inside. Enjoy and be safe bringing your 178 "home."

WELCOME Jet - we love our 2015 178. Ours is outside right now to, little milder in north central TN. I have cover - but have been busy modding.

We live in Kansas where the weather is also miserable and unpredictable in the winter. We bought a cover on Amazon for less than $200 which I have been pleased with, along with wheel covers at Walmart for cheap. They seem pretty tough. Also winterize the Pod every year. We tow with a Honda Pilot fine in Kansas, however, probably won't be taking it to any mountains with a tow rating of $4500#.

I think he's referring to the hitch bar, which I guess kinda looks like a bee's stinger sticking out the back. We tow our 179 with a 2012 Highlander V6 FWD. I would *highly* recommend a WDH. We use a Fastway E2 600/6000 to kill two birds with one stone (WDH and anti-sway) and the Pod tows quite nicely. We towed our Pod away from the dealer without one and the back end of the HL sat awfully low. |
