PS - I almost forgot.......

If you would rather camp with the Feds: Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. This is an NPS facility and there are no hook ups and no reservations.

Indiana Dunes SP is a little East of Gary, IN and I-65, on Lake Michigan.

If you want to linger a while, the dunes are cool (and a great place to fill your shoes with sand).

If you want to drive a little farther, (maybe 1 1/2 hours) Prophetstown SP
is just a bit North of Lafayette, just East of I-65. This is one of the few Indiana SP with some (about half of the sites) full hook up sites.

Sites can be reserved at either: reservations

You might want to consider a truck stop like Pilot/Flying J or TA. Alternates are check to see if there is a Walmart. There is a smart phone app called RV Parky that can help you find campgrounds and free overnight places to stay. Being that far north, I would expect most RV parks and campgrounds to be shut down for the season. I don't know how many 4-season campgrounds there would be in that area.

Do you any of you have a recommendation for a campground south of Chicago, near I-65, for a one nite stay? We will be coming home from Egg Harbor, Wi. on our way to Cincy the middle of October.
Thanks!
