Exactly, if you want the best of both worlds.

No, the factory setup does allow for playing back DVD audio through the TV. The mod I suggest takes away that option. You could add another audio cable if you wanted to retain the factory setup and get TV playback through the stereo speakers, but it would require drilling a hole for the extra cable. The method I proposed requires no drilling at all.

Thanks, I was wondering why the TV outputs were connected to a wall plate RCA and figured they must continue on to the AUX input but I never pulled out the DVD/Stereo to see how they hooked it up. So I take it the factory setup is for DVD play only thru the speakers and not TV channels? Seems like most consumers would want both?

Yes, but you'll have to pull the stereo out of the wall and switch some connections around. On the stereo, the audio output connections for the DVD player need to be moved to the AUX1 (or AUX2) inputs. On the TV, the audio input connections from the DVD need to be moved to the TV audio outputs. Don't change the video (yellow) connections. You will lose the ability to hear DVD sound through the TV, but it will still come out the stereo.

I Just got a 2016 178. Can you play the TV sound thru the stereo speakers. We used the TV once so far but only got sound from the TV speakers.
